The Pre-Law Academy
First Virtual Law Program
The Pre-Law Academy is a groundbreaking virtual school designed to empower middle and high school students with a comprehensive legal education. By offering a rigorous curriculum that mirrors the first-year law school experience, we equip young minds with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities necessary to excel in the legal field.
Our Core Curriculum
Our program delves into a wide range of essential legal subjects, including:
- Contracts: Students will explore the formation, interpretation, and enforcement of contracts, understanding the legal principles that govern agreements between parties.
- Constitutional Law: This course examines the U.S. Constitution, analyzing its structure, amendments, and the application of its principles to contemporary legal issues.
- Civil Procedure: Students will learn the procedural rules that govern civil lawsuits, from filing complaints to trials and appeals.
Criminal Law and Procedure: This course covers the elements of criminal offenses, the criminal justice system, and the rights of the accused. - Torts: Students will explore the law of civil wrongs, including negligence, intentional torts, and product liability.
We offer two pathways for your student’s journey at the academy
- Single Classes Throughout the Year: Students can enroll in individual classes that focus on specific topics. These classes may or may not provide certificates upon completion, allowing for flexibility and exploration of various legal subjects.
- Detailed Law Courses: For those seeking a more comprehensive experience, our detailed law courses will be available at the beginning of each school semester. These courses typically last between 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the topic, and come with a certificate of completion, recognizing your student’s hard work and dedication.
- Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to participate in Debate classes, where they can learn the art of debating specific legal topics, sharpening their communication and analytical skills in the process.
The Socratic Method: Critical Thinking
- At the heart of our teaching philosophy is the Socratic method. By engaging students in rigorous discussions and challenging them to think critically, we cultivate their analytical skills and deepen their understanding of legal concepts.
Real-World Application: Case Law
- To reinforce learning and prepare students for practical legal work, each class concludes with case law problems. These exercises allow students to apply legal principles to real-world scenarios, developing their ability to analyze complex legal issues and formulate persuasive arguments.
A Focus on the Present
- Our curriculum will provide students with a comprehensive foundation in law and legal studies. The curriculum is carefully crafted to be relevant and timely, addressing contemporary legal issues and challenges that shape our world. By exploring real-world examples, students gain a practical understanding of how the law impacts society and how legal principles are applied in various contexts. This hands-on approach allows students to develop critical thinking skills, legal analysis abilities, and a strong sense of social justice.
