Course Overview 

This class will explore the world of law! We’ll learn about why we have laws, how they’re made, and how they impact our lives. We’ll investigate different types of laws, from school rules to traffic laws to laws that protect our rights. We’ll also learn how to interpret laws, understand their impact on individuals and society, and become responsible citizens who understand and respect the legal system.

We’ll examine real-world examples of laws and their intended purposes. We’ll consider questions like:

• Why are laws created?
• How do laws change over time?
• What happens when laws are misinterpreted or misused?

What are the Purposes of Laws in Society? 

1. To protect individuals and their rights: Laws safeguard our fundamental freedoms, such as the right to life, liberty, and property. They protect us from harm, ensure fairness, and provide a framework for resolving disputes peacefully.  
2. To maintain order and stability: Laws establish rules and regulations that govern behavior within society. This helps prevent chaos, ensures public safety, and promotes a harmonious and just society
